About the Designer
Interior Designer Stephanie Veltri holds a BA in Fine Arts from Kent State University with an emphasis on drawing and sculpture and a BFA in Interior Design from the Design Institute of San Diego. She has worked for one of the most prestigious, high end residential design firms in San Diego, California where she received her professional training. She is an active member of the NTHP (National Trust for Historic Preservation). Stephanie is an allied member of ASID (American Society of Interior Designers).
Stephanie's canine companions are Taz, a Brussels Griffon Petit Brabancon "Lilo" and Franklin, a Pug "Lou." They enjoy singing their own version of opera at home with her. "It makes us smile, and the dogs like to be involved," she says. "When we go back to California the boys love to play at dog beach on Coronado Island. Lou loves to run into the crashing waves while Lilo would much rather find someone on the beach with a picnic basket."
"Our dogs deserve the very best for all of the love and wonderful companionship they give us! The boys have their own car seats and a stroller!" Stephanie exclaims. The interior designer currently resides in Alexandria, Virginia with her husband, and Lilo and Lou. "The dogs are excited about the changing seasons and running through the leaves. They are enjoying chasing each other in circles in the yard. However, their favorite thing to do is lounge on their designer dog bed duvets and dog pillow shams. "We used to have to put the dog beds upstairs when company came over. Now they make fabulous conversation pieces!"
Stephanie Veltri is a supporter of animal rights. She has been deeply motivated by actor and animal rights activist Doris Day who has founded DDAF (Doris Day Animal Foundation). She encourages involvement in the foundation.
Interior designer Nancy Corzine having two Yorkshire Terriers has influenced Stephanie in including our pets in residential design. "Be inspired," Nancy told her once. Stephanie took that advice and thought, "That is exactly what I will do." Thus the designer dog bed cover came to be.

How we got started
Lilo and Lou began when interior designer Stephanie Veltri and her husband came home to find that their Pug Franklin (nicknamed Lou) had destroyed the beloved dog bed of their Brussels Griffon Taz (nicknamed Lilo) There was dog bed stuffing all over the office! Stephanie felt bad getting rid of Lilo's favorite dog bed. She realized then how many dog beds must go into landfills instead of being recycled. Stephanie decided to keep the damaged dog bed but had a difficult time finding a dog bed cover for it that matched the decor of her home. She then sat down at her drafting table and designed a cover for "Lilo's" old dog bed. The designer dog bed cover was fabricated immediately and adored by both Lilo and Lou!
Stephanie realized that having a stylish, custom-looking dog bed cover could really add to the home! The dog bed was no longer an unattractive item that took up space, but it became a stylish piece of furniture for her posh pets. Even better-she was able to save the old dog bed at the same time! Stephanie decided to make her designs come to life so others could share in her haute hound couture designer dog bed cover designs!
While brainstorming packaging ideas for her designer dog bed covers, Stephanie decided to give her line something extra special! "Lilo" and "Lou" had a small pillow they love to share on one of their dog beds. She thought it would be fabulous to design a pillow sham for the pampered pooch. It could be filled with recycled dog bedding, craft fill, and many other options. "We have pillows, so why shouldn't our dogs! They are definitely treated as equals in our household. "The design was finalized that with every designer dog bed cover purchased it would be tucked inside a free, matching dog pillow sham!"
